A day of hands for La Nueva Esperanza

Yami's elder-care home in Carolina has served the community for 41 years. On November 6th, Apex and Rainmakers volunteers are gathering to finish three bathrooms, ten rooms, and the upstairs addition in a single day — and we need both hands and materials to pull it off.

La Nueva Esperanza — "the new hope" — has cared for Carolina's elderly for 41 years. Yami took over the home with no money down: a private lender, an equity partner, and seller financing, all built through the Apex and Rainmakers community. It's been fully staffed and running ever since, with 15 residents calling it home.

Now it needs a facelift: three bathrooms finished, ten rooms painted, and an upstairs addition closed in with PVC panels. One good day with the right crew gets it all done at once — that's November 6th.

What's still needed

If you're not coming Nov 6 but have any of this sitting around — or know someone who does — this helps more than another check.

Needs a driver

PVC wall panels

Found at $37/panel in Quebradilla. Someone needs a pickup truck to get them to Carolina before the 6th.

Materials

Sage green paint

2 five-gallon buckets needed — the two big rooms will eat through what's already on hand.

Materials

Bathroom fixtures

3 vanities, 3 toilets, O-rings and supply-line hardware for the three bathroom installs.

Bring with you

Your own tools

Rollers, brushes, drop cloths, painter's tape, a drill, a level, and work gloves if you've got them.

Team leaders — 2 confirmed, 1 still open

Painting is the biggest job on the list and nobody's directing it yet. If that's you, say so when you sign up.

Confirmed

Jonathan — Panels

Runs the PVC panel install upstairs. Needs 2 more people to train and rotate between.

Confirmed

Joseph — Plumbing

Directs the vanity and toilet install across all three bathrooms, one person per room.

Open — needs a leader

Painting — unassigned

10 rooms, no one pointing people to a room or setting the order. Whoever's comfortable running a crew, step up.
